misallignment of columns

Added by KYR GI over 5 years ago

Dear all,
I am using AMC to prepare my exams, quite a time now. I am facing a problem with some of the prepared copies.
I am using standard two-column format for the whole document and standard two column for the answers (always with \AMCBoxedAnswers).
In some of the 100 prepared exams (5-6), the columns for the answers are misaligned. They should be printed in the next document column but are printed in the middle of the page. Please see attached file.
This happens always on the same page for the same exams. It seems that Latex cannot calculate correctly the vspace.

thank you in advance,
KYR.

I had many trial and errors. it was clear to me that a column was printed in the middle of the page, losing alignment.
multicol calculates many things (that is not clear to a beginner) and since I was using a dual nested multicol (2column document, 2column for the answers for each question), it somehow made this misalignment in some exams out of the 100.
So I defined a fixed column separation in the beginning of the document, that would fit both the main document and the answers and it seems to work fine.
I tested in all my past exams.
