Automatic notification to corrected answers

Added by Alex Messing about 8 years ago

Hi,

we intend to use AMC for an upcoming exam. We have to allow students to correct their answers during the exam; and for practical reasons we cannot use a dedicated answersheet.
So I was wondering whether there is some mechanism that would automatically alert me to questions where more than the allowed amount of answers are ticked,
so that I can manually see what the student wrote down.

Hypothetical scenario:
Student A answers the question "What is a banana?"
A: a fruit
B: an animal
C: the same as a cat
D: a wooden chair

It's just allowed to give a single answer.

She first thinks it's D, ticks it, then realizes it's A. So she ticks A as well, and makes a note next to the question saying "My answer is A!"

Now it's scanned and read by AMC. AMC realizes there's more than one box ticked and alerts me. I manually inspect that specific part, and see her note.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Alex

Get the "latest" version of AMC (say: 1.2.2016.011501)

Instruct students as follows:
1. The correct way to tick an answer is to put an "X" AND not to bubble the box fully
2. The way to CANCEL an answer is to fully bubble the box

Go to Edit-->Preferences and set
I. Default darkness threshold to 0.3 or 0.4 or 0.5
II. Default upper darkness threshold at 0.8 or 0.85 or 0.9 or 0.95

Then, AMC will treat anything above (or equal to?) I but below II as ticked and anything above or equal
to II as unticked.

You can look for red cells in the ODS export.
And a tool to navigate across these questions in the manual data capture is currently in development.
