Vertical arrangement for Student Code in AMC syntax
Added by Nikola Z. Guscic over 11 years ago
Using the Code
option in AMC syntax automatically returns numbers arranged in horizontal rows.
Is there a way in AMC syntax to specify vertical columns instead? Should I use special LaTex code for that?
Thanks,
Niko Z.

This can not yet be configured in AMC-TXT source files.
In a LaTeX source, you can use \AMCcode
or \AMCcodeH
to choose the direction you need.

Thanks for the answer.
I can already use the LaTex source to get the the results I want personally. Now I am trying to make AMC-TXT templates that could
be used by teachers in our school to create their own exams. The idea is that they would just write out questions in .txt format and lump all images/pictures in one composite pdf file. Then the computer lab assistant would help them to paste that into appropriate AMC-TXT template and tweak it accordingly to get the appropriate headers.
We already have working templates in school, the only things that we can't configure in AMC-TXT are automarks
and vertical student code.
Both of these are cosmetic issues only. AMC-TXT is a really great idea as it allows teachers who are not computer savvy to get benefit from LaTex. I really hope it will get developed further to cover even more aspects of LaTex.

Fell free to post feature requests for special needs concerning AMC-TXT.
You can also consider creating a new filter (adapted from the plain
AMC-TXT one) to add particular headers or so. Filters are small pieces of perl
(but you can use a minimal perl
program that will call your code written in another language) that convert source format to LaTeX (see Build a new filter plugin for a minimal starting point).

Thanks for the suggestions. Actually we can already get headers the way we want them by enabling Latex in AMC-TXT preamble and pasting a lot of LaTex code in the Presentation: section.
As for requesting new features for AMC-TXT, should I open new issue in the Issues section of the web site, or does this thread suffice?
Thanks,
Niko Z.

It's easier for me to remind them if you open new issues. Thanks.
