Adding a checkbox and determine if that check box is checked

I am almost certain that this can be done and I have seen the sample somewhere I have been searching up and down without result. So I have to ask again:

If I want to add a check box (for example, are you male/female with two checkboxes side-by-side) in some part of the exam (and not part of any formal question), is it possible?

You can find something like that (explained in french) at Codages simples. In your case, you can also add a \QuestionIndicative flag.
