Talk on AMC at Joint Mathematics Meetings
I thought I should let you know I gave a talk at the Joint Mathematics Meetings of the American Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of America on AMC. Here is a link to the slides:
I got some very positive responses!
Great! Thanks for the feedback.

Nice summary of a practice around AMC !
I was specially interested in your practice of a pdf editor for the annotation of the student production.
Presently, I annotate the paper version and check boxes on the pdf version (I use a lot of open questions). Problem : when I send annotated pdf version to students, then don't get my handwritten annotations.
Two questions :
- don't you take much more time when annotating with the pdf editor ?
- even more blocking, did you solve the problem of writing mathematical signs ? I wish I could annotate in Latex ...
Hi! So sorry I let this reply go unanswered. I have two workflows:
- annotate paper and fill in the boxes with pen. Then I scan and the scores are processed. The annotations include my handwritten remarks.
- scan paper and annotate PDF with an editor. I can add fancy PDF elements then.
I do the first one for my weekly quizzes and the second for my midterm exams.
I think I save some time while annotating PDFs because I can copy-and-paste remarks. So I feel like I can be consistent in the amount of feedback each instance of the same error gets.
I avoid using too much notation so as not to need to write mathematical symbols. There are alternate keyboards that have math symbols, if you really wanted to write math on the page.
